Butternut Squash

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

It seems to be everywhere (that is, everywhere in the UK) at the moment. Few non-English know it though:

So what is it? Read it on Wikipedia. In German it’s a Moschusk├╝rbis (not that I knew that before looking it up) and in Spanish that makes it a Cucurbita moschata (obvious, no?).
I like it for soups, but it works really well roasted (on Sundays?) and for currys.

BBC & NS Climate Change Experiment Results

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

So much stuff out there that i don thave time to read or watch. A realistic(?) overview of the world’s climate in the future from the BBC Climate Change Expriment:

2020 temperature in 2020

2050 temperature in 2050

2080 temperature 2070

If you dont have time, just watch a few of the ‘news’ clips in the What They Mean - Impact in the UK section. Watch out for clip featuring the BedZED development designed by Arup.

Also today, I came across an article in the NewScientist 2001: A world of wild weather (article will be archived are a while, if this has happened already, search for it on the net).
